Summer doesn’t officially begin until the 21st of June, however if you are a student, your summer has already begun. Many of your friends have jobs or are enrolled in summer programs, and you are already bored! If this sounds familiar, don’t be discouraged. Summer Youth Programs
As part of the Regional Facilitator Team with Workforce Solutions, I get to work with youth on career exploration and job readiness skills. Frequently these young people communicate how frustrating and difficult it is for them to find a job. Below are a few scenarios that have been shared with me:
• I’m in high school and can’t get a job because I don’t have any work experience
• I’m 19, working on a GED, and need a job but don’t know where to start
• I’m a teen parent that is unsure how to support my child
• I’m a youth with a disability and am unsure where to look for opportunities
