As part of the Regional Facilitator Team with Workforce Solutions, I get to work with youth on career exploration and job readiness skills. Frequently these young people communicate how frustrating and difficult it is for them to find a job. Below are a few scenarios that have been shared with me:
• I’m in high school and can’t get a job because I don’t have any work experience
• I’m 19, working on a GED, and need a job but don’t know where to start
• I’m a teen parent that is unsure how to support my child
• I’m a youth with a disability and am unsure where to look for opportunities
Landing a job in an employer’s market can be a difficult task. This task is made even more difficult when additional barriers such as those listed above are added to the mix. Continue reading “Summer Youth Programs”
