Valuable Training Opportunities (Part 2)

Welcome back! In part 1 of my blog, I discussed Online Learning and Webinar training options offered by Workforce Solutions. I also summarized what to expect from Module 1: A Targeted Plan, and Module 2: Job Readiness Toolkit. Jobseekers swear by the information, tips, and strategies provided throughout the four modules. They readily admit to a much more successful and shortened job search. Let’s finish where we left off and complete our discussion of Modules 3 and 4.

Module 3 – Sharpening Your Interview Skills concentrates on everything you have learned in the first two modules. When using those tips, you will become aware of the high level of details needed when responding during the interview. Your actions speak louder than words even though you dress for success. So, it is encouraged that special attention is allowed for body language, levels of dress, and skills identification. Additional information included assists in deciding how you should dress for your interview – includes business professional, business casual, or casual.

The 30-Second Commercial is the crown jewel of the interview. And there will be opportunities to practice your response as it will set the tone for the entire interview. The most commonly asked interview questions become the central focus of the training as the speed interviewing form offers the most commonly asked interview questions at a glance. Getting the chance to practice all your newfound knowledge in one session reduces the element of surprise when trying to navigate through employer expectations.

Module 4 Closing the Deal includes detailed advice on the power of networking. As mentioned previously in part 1 of this blog, networking is still the most popular way of finding employment. In this module, you concentrate on your social media presence and its usefulness throughout your job search. If you readily use social media, there are some rules of etiquette that might surprise you! For instance, did you know that an employer does not need your password to have the ability to access your account? Workforce Solutions offers tips to help you understand the difference between positive and negative sharing throughout your digital footprint.

Many people shy away from salary negotiations because they do not know how to do it. Your next negotiation can work to your advantage. Focus on the total rewards of the position, in addition to salary. When leaving a powerful closing statement at the end of an interview, you also set the stage for leaving a positive and lasting impression for your potential employer.  Do not forget to send a Thank you note. The Thank You note most often reflects the true professional and adds to a positive, lasting impression. It is the perfect last step in closing the deal.

Finally, if you have not looked for work in a while or have been employed through long-term or back-to-back employment, job search techniques have changed significantly. You may be surprised to know just how much you really “don’t know” when it comes to today’s job search practices. Remember, If you choose to implement just a few of the tips you will acquire through Workforce Solutions (online learning and live webinars), your new opportunity for success becomes much easier to reach!
