Many workers have come to the realization of how important having a 2nd job may be in the efforts of sustaining their household. With the government shutdown, many federal workers weren’t getting paid so they had to find ways to supplement their income.
Hopefully, Workforce Solutions customers are aware of what you need to land that first job. These training’s ensure that those looking to land that first job are well equipped, but landing the 2nd job may be a little less career focused and a little more skill and passion focused. Here are several key points to explain more:
- Let your hobby make you money – Allow the things you enjoy to be your second source of income. Many people have hobbies such as gaming, sewing, singing, etc. These hobbies can actually make you money. Take time to find an organization that is looking to fill positions with someone that has a passion for what you enjoy. Those who enjoy gaming may find a great opportunity at gaming stores such as Game Stop. People who enjoy watching movies may enjoy working at a Movie theater. Most theaters are always looking to fill part time positions. You have the think about what you like to do and who would pay you to do it.
- Use your skills for income – Most of us have skills that could be used to provide a service to someone and that can be financially rewarding. For instance, you may be a great repair person and many people are looking for light handymen to help them with various projects. There are people with disabilities that may not be able to do small things such as mow their lawn, or even change filters in their own homes. Your skill may put you in the position to help someone and make money. That leads me to my next selection
- Start your own business – Don’t be afraid to go out and start your own business to supplement your income. It can be as easy as getting some business cards printed and passing them out to people and see what happens. You may find that your talents turn your supplemental income to your primary income.
It’s been said that it’s easier to get a job when you already have one. Second jobs may be vital to ensure ones income sustains their household. Getting another job doesn’t have to be grueling or a terrible experience. Your second job may be a fun release from the everyday hustle of your first job. It may actually be the key to your happiness.
